Obituary of Donald E. Gruendle

Donald E. Gruendle, a resident of the Village of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Wingate at Dutchess in Fishkill. He was 89. Son of the late Edward and Jennie Schmidt Gruendle, he was born October 29, 1926 in Beacon. He married the former Mary Scofield on October 13, 1951. Mrs. Gruendle preceded him in death on December 26, 2015. Don proudly served his country during World War II in the Seabees. He worked for IBM, retiring in 1991 as a Graphic Artist and Technical Illustrator. He was a former member of the Elks, Lodge 275 in Poughkeepsie. Survivors include his sons, Jerry D. Gruendle and Allan Gruendle; his grandchildren, Kristen Carlson, Heather Hulslander, Nicholas Murray, Wesley Murray, Bradley Gruendle, Brittney Gruendle, eight great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Mary, he was predeceased by his daughter, Ann Murray; brother, Allan; and sisters, Helen and Dolly. A private cremation will take place. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Fishkill Rural Cemetery in Fishkill.
