Obituary of Raymond G. Guillet

Raymond Gerard Guillet, age 86 of Newburgh NY, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024, after an extended illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan A. Guillet and loving father to his children, Mark Guillet, Karen Miklas and Brian Guillet.

Ray was born October 1, 1937 in Waterbury, Connecticut, son of the late Robert Guillet and Alice B. (Pelletier) Guillet. He was married to Joan on August 31, 1963, at St Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville, Connecticut. He was an active member in both the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts (Pack 68, Troop 60 and 56), as well as an active parent in the Town of Wappinger youth baseball leagues and St Mary’s CYO basketball, supporting his boys. Raymond worked for over 30 years at IBM in the Hudson Valley where he retired in 1996 after receiving numerous Means Service Awards for his dedication and customer support. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was a graduate of the Wards School of Electronics, part of the University of Hartford in Connecticut. Raymond was a long-time member of the Sugar and Spice bowling league in Wappingers Falls as well as a Men’s league at the Fishkill Bowl. He played softball on numerous IBM league teams, Wappingers Industrial League (Peppy’s Pizza, Barbara’s and Standard Glass) and played for many years in the Fishkill Over 65 Men’s League. He enjoyed working on maintaining his home, was a skilled “Do-It-Yourselfer”, enjoyed local travel, concerts in the park, local plays, playing and watching sports, visiting and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Ray will be remembered for his fun-loving nature, dry sense of humor, passion for his family, positive generosity, competitive nature, quick wit and love for his wife and family. He was most proud of his seven grandchildren, great grandchild and step-grandchild, watching them grow throughout the years, enjoying and encouraging their many accomplishments and successes.
