Victor Small was born in NYC on March 2, 1958.  His parents, Walter Small and Lydia Nikolskaya Small were World War Two Refugees and then recent immigrants to the city.  When Victor was to enter 6th grade, the family moved to Wappingers Falls.  Victor graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School and then Marist College with a degree in communications and a minor in Russian Literature.   

While at Marist, Victor was bitten by the theater bug which resulted in an involvement with the excellent local theater groups across the Hudson Valley and then readings in NYC.  While acting, Victor could be found earning his keep as a bartender vividly entertaining his customers with his wit and vast knowledge of sports.

In Victor’s professional career, he was a corporate trainer to employees in the then newly forming cable and satellite industry working with companies such as Time Warner in NYC, Philly, and North Carolina. Health issues brought Victor back to the Hudson Valley where he took on care giving for his parents.

Victor accepted his cancer diagnosis with great dignity asking only for friends and family to take him out for a meal and a good beer.   

Victor was a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend.  One of his great gifts was the ability to make friends wherever he was - from his lifelong friends from school, to Valley Vista Assisted Living and finally Vassar Hospital, Victor had a unique sense of humor right up until the very last hours of his life.  He loved his family, sports, good food and drink (with ice!!!), and of course, lots of good laughs.   

Victor is survived by his sister, Valentina Shatalova (Small), her family, his aunt, uncle, cousins and many friends.  Rest in Peace, dear Victor.
