Bharati Desai passed away on September 13, 2024 at the age of 77. She was born on July 3, 1947 in Porbandar, India and grew up in Mumbai. There she received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry.

In 1971, she married Kamalesh Desai and moved to Dutchess County, New York. Together they had two children, Vanisa and Neil. Bharati was the heart of her family, raising her children in a joyful and loving home.

Bharati was known among her family and many friends for her jolly personality and compassionate heart. She found happiness in helping others, whether it be her extended family, neighbors, those in need in the community, or through her involvement with the Hindu Samaj in Wappingers Falls.  

Bharati worked for the Dutchess County Probation Department for over 20 years. After her retirement, she spent her time traveling and playing bridge with her friends. She especially enjoyed entertaining and bringing her loved ones together around a delicious meal. She was also fond of music and had a beautiful voice.

Bharati is survived by her husband Kamalesh, her children Vanisa and Neil, and a large extended family.

A funeral service will be held on September 17, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Straub Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
