Obituary of Carol Waddle Dickson
Carol Waddle Dickson, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Sunday, December 1, 2024. She was 85.
Daughter of the late Arthur and Grace Willeson Nisbet, she was born January 29, 1939 in Rockville Centre, New York. She was raised and lived in Lawrence, Long Island until 1967 when she moved to Wappingers Falls. Her first husband, Arthur W.T. Waddle, predeceased her in 1995 and her second husband, John H. Dickson, predeceased her earlier in 2024.
Carol worked as a manager at IBM until her retirement in 1994. She started CDT Travel in Newburgh following her retirement from IBM. In 2000, she fully retired and enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, John, and spending her winters in South Carolina.
Carol was active in the community. She served on the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Conservation Board in the Town of Wappinger. She was a fifty-year member of the Town of Wappinger Republican Committee and was a member of the Dutchess County Republican Committee. Carol was also a member of the Eastern Star and was District Deputy Grand Matron for the Columbia, Dutchess, Putnam District.
Survivors include her daughters, Catherine Mahone of Fishkill, and Melissa Bottini and her husband, Brian of Marlboro; her grandchildren, Anna, Michelle (Jorge), Jenifer, Brian, Jr. (Diana), Brandon (Lynae) and Ashton (Tanner); her great-grandchildren, Essance, Rickey, George, Ulises, Isabella, Sisi and Arthur; as well as her two step-daughters and one step-son.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
