Obituary of Kenneth C. Chatlos
On December 24, 2024 Kenneth C. Chatlos peacefully passed away in his home, with his loving wife Madeline at his side.
Kenneth was born on May 15, 1942 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was born to Ann & Julius Chatlos and grew up both in Yonkers and East Fishkill, NY. It was in the small community of Hillside Lake, where Ken met and later married his wife of 58 years, Madeline Dema Chatlos. Ken and Madeline were married on July 9, 1966 in Astoria, Queens. Together, they happily raised three children: Jacqueline, Michael and Craig who later went on to bless them with five grandchildren; Maggie Elizabeth, Molly Elise, Ryan James, Christopher Mitchell and Lindsey Madison. Ken warmly welcomed his son and daughter in-law Ron Veach and Heather Deitch Chatlos into his family, where they celebrated many of his life’s special moments together.
Kenneth is also survived by his brother and wife Ronald & Ginny Chatlos of Indiana and three sisters Norma Howard of California, Susan & Tom Susor in Washington and Cynthia and David Eldredge in Wisconsin.
Ken graduated from Wappingers Central School District and later studied architecture at Dutchess Community College, where he worked for a number of years. In 1979, Ken went on to develop East Fishkill Builders with life-long friend, Bob Emig and business partner, Stanley Vodrazka. In 1994, he began his own company Ken C. Chatlos Carpentry & Remodeling. He continued his remodeling work as a certified contractor for many years, working until his battle with Parkinson’s Disease would no longer allow him to do so.
Ken took his Parkinson’s Disease with stride and soon became a long standing member of the Mid-Hudson Parkinson's Foundation where he served on the board and actively organized the annual Walk Over Water at the Mid-Hudson Bridge.
Visitation hours will be held at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home in Wappingers Falls on Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 2-5pm. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 30 at 10am at St. Mary’s Church, Wappingers Falls.
Kenneth’s last few months were spent at home with Hospice Care and we ask that Memorial Donations kindly be made to Hudson Valley Hospice. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the friends and family who have supported them. With much appreciation to the dedicated and caring health care aides: Anissa, Vivian, Antoinette, along with the Hospice Team of Kerri-Anne and Michael, led by Nurse Mary.
