Obituary of Lois H. Mott
Lois Holden Mott passed away on Wednesday morning, July 6, 2016 at the age of 88 at The Pines at Poughkeepsie Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was the only child of Joseph B. Holden and Clara M. (Hait) Holden of Wappingers Falls and will rest in eternal peace by their sides. Born on January 13, 1928 in her family home, she lived with her parents for 24 years and then moved back into the family home for 23 more years in the later years of her life. After graduation from Wappingers High School in 1945, she worked at Western Printing and Central Hudson, both in Poughkeepsie, before becoming a homemaker.
She was a member of the Wappingers Falls United Methodist Church. Her talents and hobbies were playing the piano, knitting, reading, tending to her plants, doing crossword puzzles and playing Rummy Cube with her friends. Her greatest gift was her personality and sense of humor, making people smile and laugh her whole life. Her greatest enjoyment was time with her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and even the family pets.
Affectionately and fondly known as "Loi," "LoLo," and "Grammy," she was dearly loved by many friends in her community, in her church and when she lived at The Pines, she was also called "Mighty Mott" by the staff.
She was predeceased by her dear parents; one grandson, Michael G. Brandl; two close cousins, Malcom Hait (Hughsonville) and Carol Meeker Dibble (California); four childhood friends throughout her adult life, Ann Scofield Gruendle, Jane Scofield Gioia, Mary Scofield Gruendle and Lois Mitchell Montross, all from Wappingers Falls.
She is survived by her two daughters, Holly A. Eldredge (Pawling) and Laurel M. Brandl and husband, Tom (Pleasant Valley); her son, David P. Mott (E. Corinth, VT); three grandchildren, Jody N. Eldredge, Thomas J. Brandl and Daniel R. Brandl; three great grandchildren, Michael D. Albertson, III, Thomas J. Brandl, Jr. and Ella M. Brandl; one sister-in-law, Madelyn Rave (Kent, CT); two close cousins, Gerald Hait and wife, Sandy (Hyde Park) and Eleanor Meeker MacIssac (Poughkeepsie); several Kutchma and McGilton nieces and nephews; family friends, Barbara Montross and Allan Gruendle.
The family would like to thank the nurses, aides, staff, table mates and friends at The Pines at Poughkeepsie for their care, attention and comfort in Lois' quality of life while she lived there.
