Obituary of Angelo Petrillo

Angelo Petrillo died unexpectedly after a long illness at his home in Hughsonville on October 12, 2016. He was 79. Son of the late Anthony and Esther Sloat Petrillo, he was born March 11, 1937 in Peekskill. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1960. Angelo worked at Martin's Tobacco and the Paramount Theater in Peekskill. He went on to work at IBM in 1956. It was at IBM that he met Franca who would become his wife. He retired in 1992. Angelo married Franca Pozza in June of 1975 in Wappingers Falls. Mrs. Petrillo survives at home in Hughsonville. Angelo was a member of the New Hackensack Reformed Church in Wappingers Falls. He had a deep faith and love in God. He had many interests and hobbies including cooking and photography. Angelo had a love of the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time at the beach. He had an interest in his Native American Heritage. He will be remembered as a hero and protector who loved his family, especially his wife, children and grandchildren. He was known as a voice of reason and a person people turned to for advice. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Troy Petrillo and his wife, Julie of Gloucester, Massachusetts, Tracy Chandler of Clifton Park, and Angela Foppiano and her husband, Anthony of Poughkeepsie; his brothers, Michael and Edward Petrillo; four grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Fred and Vincent Petrillo. Family will receive their friends on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. at New Hackensack Reformed Church, 1580 Route 376 in Wappingers Falls. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Keith Tamlyn officiating.
