Obituary of Katherine T. Kolaian

Katherine T. Kolaian of Wappingers Falls died on October 2, 2016 after a brief illness. The youngest of five children of James and Erifile Triantafillou, Katherine was born in Troy, NY in 1937, and educated in the Troy public schools. After graduation from Russell Sage College in Troy, and employed in the family restaurant business, she was married to Jack H. Kolaian of Troy NY in 1960, whence they departed for Houston Texas. The young family returned to NY in 1967 and remained among the friends and colleagues of the former Texaco, Inc. Known to all as a kind, gracious, thoughtful and caring individual, with a curious and intelligent wit, Katherine was dedicated to, and immensely enjoyed her family, home, friends, church and literary pursuits. She was pre-deceased by Husband Jack by twelve years. Surviving are her Sons Christopher J, of Wappingers Falls, Peter H., of Columbia MD, Daughter, Alicia K., of Washington DC, Sister, Angeline Nicholas and Brother Steven Triantafillou, both of Troy NY, and Brother Socrates Triantafillou, of Manhattan County NY. A memorial service for Katherine shall be held on October 27th, 2016, at 1:00 pm, at the Zion Episcopal Church in Wappingers Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Zion Episcopal Church Building Infrastructure Fund, 12 Satterlee Place, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. Arrangements are under the direction of Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
