Obituary of Alfredo Moreira

Alfredo Moreira, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at The Pines at Poughkeepsie. He was 73. Son of the late Alfonso and Mercedes Lopez Moreira, he was born March 8, 1943 in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. He married the former Myrtelina Malave on December 21, 1963 in Brooklyn. Mrs. Moreira survives at home in Wappingers Falls. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in February of 1965. Until his retirement, Alfredo worked as a Bank Executive at Chase Manhattan Bank in Manhattan. In addition to his wife of fifty-two years, he is survived by his children, Debra Moreira of Poughkeepsie and Steve Moreira and his wife, Jackie of Poughkeepsie; his brother, Manuel Moreira; his sisters, Ida Soto, Inez Perez and Iris Colon; his grandchildren, Amanda, Anthony, Robert, Jessica and Andrew; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, October, 28 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 29 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Avenue in Poughkeepsie.
