Obituary of Salvatore A. Mastrosimone

Salvatore A. Mastrosimone, a longtime area resident, entered into rest Wednesday, May 21, 2014. He was 98. Son of the late Cataldo and Grazia Mastrosimone, he was born July 5, 1915 in New York City. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner of Betty Crest, Inc. in New York City. Mr. Mastrosimone was a proud veteran of World War II. He was an avid gardener and was also known to be a great dancer. Salvatore was a wonderful guy, kind hearted and compassionate. He had a beautiful spirit and was simply loved by everyone. Survivors include his beloved wife of 72 years, Josephine; his children, Thomas Mastrosimone and Denise Smith; and his sister, Rose Ferrara. He was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Giliberto, Rae Giliberto, Thomas Mastrosimone and Joseph Mastrosimone. Family will receive friends on Friday, May 23, 2014 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 24 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in the Poughkeepsie Rural Community Mausoleum, South Avenue in Poughkeepsie.
