I worked with Hillar at Wappingers Central School District. He was a monitor and the children just loved him. He was so kind and understanding to all these children with special needs. We often talked while waiting for the children to come out of school. He tell me about his bowling and how he had a perfect game. I was so sad to read of his passing. He always had a smile on his face. He never had a mean word for anyone. May you RIP Hillar . The world needs more men like you. Your family are in my prayers.

My deepest condolences to Hillar's family. Hillar & I hired out with AT&T's Western Electric Division April 27, 1964. Hillar & I commuted to Albany for basic school in the very beginning. We also commuted to AT&T's Rosendale in the mid 60's. If we were assigned to the same location & we didn't commute together, I could never beat him to the location. Hillar made management towards the end of 1985 with AT&T. A month afterwards Hillar nominated me for the management position, in which I was then granted per his nomination. I have retired & I have relocated to AZ. Every summer when I revisit Poughkeepsie NY Hillar & I get together for breakfast to reminisce over old times. I am sadden by the news of Hillar's passing, but I will keep with me all the great times we've shared along the years.

I worked with Hillar in White Plains Every morning he would buy a buttered roll and feed it to the pigeons. He placed a trouble ( non service affecting ) in a piece of equipment that took the phone company weeks to locate. It was a pigeon
feather between the contacts of a relay! Good, funny , and bright man

My deepest sympathy and condolences to Hillar's family. Hillar was a wonderful person and a truly class act. It was an honor to have known him as a friend and fellow bowler, a pleasure to be with at any time. He was also one of Dutchess County's greatest bowlers, having won numerous honors at a time when the integrity of bowling was at its highest level. I will always cherish our conversations and his willingness to share his insights on many issues. RIP dear friend.

I had known Hillar back in the sixties but never got to know him well until I became a member of the Hudson Valley Bowling Association. He was always a gentleman and encouraged me to bowl better. He had a way to find a good bowling line in the worst conditions. You always knew he would find a way to bowl at least a 600 series and quite often even better! The sport of bowling will definitely miss him!

Mr A was one of the happiest men I've ever had the privilege to know. Always had a smile on his face. I'd always joke with his son and my best friend Eerik that the world could be coming to an end.... However Mr A would still be smiling. He will always be missed but never forgotten.
