Obituary of Arthur Platt

Arthur "Art" Platt of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 75. Son of the late Meyer "Mike" and Lillian Ginsberg Platt, he was born on February 2, 1943 in the Bronx. He married his beloved wife, BJ on May 1, 2004 in Cold Spring; Mrs. McClane-Platt survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Art was a graduate of Hendrick High School and went on to attend East Carolina College. He worked for IBM for many years and later for Xerox, until his retirement. He was the owner and operator of Platt's Country Village Locksmith in Wappingers Falls. He was also a Boy Scout leader in Wappingers Falls for 20 years. In his spare time, Art enjoyed martial arts; he was a black belt and taught Tae Kwon Do. He also enjoyed camping, hiking, shooting, wine-making, gardening, scuba diving and his hot tub. In addition to his wife, BJ, he is survived by his children, Wendy, David, Eric, Jessie, Janice and Rich; his brother, Sam Platt and his wife, Roberta; grandchildren, Dylan, Colin, Kieran, Joshua, Evangeline, Hannah, Kathryn and Brayden; and nieces, Stacey and Jody. Family will receive their friends on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
