Obituary of Tullio M. DellaCorte

Tullio Matteo DellaCorte, a resident of Wappingers Falls, died on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at St. Luke's-Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 84. Son of the late John and Anna Linquito DellaCorte, he was born on January 12, 1934 in Yonkers. In March of 1952 in St. Mary's Church, Yonkers, he married Gisela (Jill) Jung. Mrs. DellaCorte survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Tullio attended Saunders Trades School on Yonkers, after which he was employed by General Motors in Tarrytown for 44 years. He retired in 1996 from G.M. where he was a Union Representative for Benefits. He also served 8 years in the Naval Reserves. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Robert and wife, Mary; son, Thomas and fiancée, Angela Bettina; daughter, Donna and husband, Jamie Farruggella; daughter, Danielle and husband, Tim Collins. He was a proud and loving grandfather to his six grandchildren; they were his pride and joy; Michelle (Patrick) McCarthy, Lisa (Sarah) DellaCorte-Fisher, James (Brooke) Farruggella, John (Hope) Farruggella, Jesse Farruggella, and Mia Collins and his eight great-grandchildren, Liam, Fiona, Milo, Dominic, Genevieve, Theodore, Tullio and Lily. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son, Jonathan; his sister, Antoinette Perkins and brother, Edward. Family will receive their friends on Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9 in Fishkill. The family thanks the Boscobel Unit Staff at Wingate at Dutchess for the care and kindness shown Tullio.
