Obituary of Helen M. Potter

Helen M. Potter Helen M. Potter of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Sunday, February 5, 2006 at Hudson Haven Care Center in Wappingers Falls. She was 93. Daughter of the late Hugh W. and Mary L. Behan Morse she was born on November 9, 1912 in Rome, New York. She married George J. Borden, Sr. on February 3, 1934 in Rome; he precedes her in death, passing on October 5, 1953. She then married Lawrence J. Potter, Sr. on June 28, 1960 in Rome; he also precedes her in death, passing on May 12, 1976. Helen worked for many years as a school teacher for Bell Road School in Rome. She was also a member of the Eastern Star in Cortland. Survivors include her son, Paul Borden; her stepson, Lawrence J. Potter, Jr. and his wife, Ruth of Schodack Landing; her daughter, Carol Sasse of Wappingers Falls; grandchildren, Elizabeth Croft and her husband, Timothy of Schodack Landing, Jacqueline Tucker and her husband, James of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Charles Potter and his wife, Lynne of Clover, South Carolina, Helen Marshall and her husband, Jon of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Walter Sasse and his wife, Sarah of Hyde Park; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Daniel Croft, Rebecca and Neil Tucker and Faith and Alyssa Sasse. Helen is predeceased by her son G. Joseph Borden, Jr. A Requim Mass will be offered on Thursday, February 9, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Church of the Holy Comforter Anglican, Davies Place, Poughkeepsie with Bishop Kleppinger officiating. Burial of ashes will take place in the spring in Rome Cemetery in Rome. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Helen's name to Church of the Holy Comforter Anglican, 18 Davies Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
