Anthony J. Gasperini
Anthony J. Gasperini of the Town of Wappinger entered into rest Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at home surrounded by his family. He was 53.
Son of Christine Carozza Gasperini and the late Pasquale Gasperini, he was born on December 9, 1952 in Yonkers. He married the love of his life, Rosalia Avellani on November 28, 1976 in Yonkers; they remained happily married for almost 30 years.
Anthony graduated from the High School of Commerce in Yonkers in 1970 and from Westchester Community College with an Associate Degree of Business. He then went on to work for various IBM locations, finishing his career at IBM in Poughkeepsie; he retired in June of 2005 after 31 years of service.
Mr. Gasperini was very involved in his community, especially dedicating his time to the children. He was a leader for Cub Scouts Pack 40 and Boy Scouts Troop 2609, both of Wappingers Falls. He also coached Little League Baseball in the Town of Wappinger for over 10 years.
Besides his loving wife at home and his mother, Christine of Wappingers Falls, he is survived by his sons, Anthony, Michael and Daniel Gasperini; his brothers, Patrick Gasperini and his wife, Julie and Dennis Gasperini; and one niece and several nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family will receive their friends on Friday, January 6, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, January 7 at 11 am at St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie. Entombment will follow at the Poughkeepsie Rural Community Mausoleum, Poughkeepsie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Anthony's name to Dutchess County Hospice, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
