Vera Bossong

Vera Bossong of Dutchess County entered into rest Monday, August 29, 2005 at her residence. She was 80.

Daughter of the late Lawrence V. and Marion Barry Leal, she was born on December 28, 1924 in Demerara, British Guiana. She wed John J. Bossong and remained happily married for many years. He precedes her in death, passing on July 5, 2005.

Vera worked for many years as a stocks and bonds supervisor for the Bank of New York in Manhattan.

Survivors include her son, Richard Bossong and his wife, Kelly; her daughters, Pamela Herbst and her husband, Edward and Linda Rock; her brother, Joe Leal; sisters, Sheila Stillman and Margie Rose; grandchildren, Vera, Adam, Matthew, Jennie, David, Maureen and Gina; and several great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband John, she is predeceased by her son, John J. Bossong and her sisters, Olga, Celeste and Stella.

Family will receive their friends on Friday, September 2 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, September 3 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
