Obituary of Amelia Howson

Amelia Howson Amelia Howson, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 1953 and formerly of Peekskill, entered into rest, Saturday, October 15, 2005 at Lutheran Care Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 92. Daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria Bartulak Pretak, she was born December 27, 1912 in Poughkeepsie. She married George W. Howson on December 28, 1935 in St. Joseph's Church, Poughkeepsie. Mr. Howson preceded her in death on October 29, 1981. Mrs. Howson was a Hairdresser for many years. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls. Survivors include her grandson, Gregg Howson of Wappingers Falls; her two sisters, Dorothy Rigolino and Eleanor Ward both of Poughkeepsie and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, George W. Howson, Jr.; her two brothers, John and Joseph Pretak and her five sisters, Sophia Houghtaling, Mary Anzelone, Julia Wands, Nellie Medici and Helen Calanan. Family will receive their friends on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 from 8:30 to 9:30 am at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Amelia's name to Lutheran Care Center, 965 Dutchess Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
