Obituary of David Sung

David Sung David Sung of the Town of Wappinger entered into rest Sunday, December 19, 2005 at home. He was 103. Son of the late Cun Tsai and Woo Sung, he was born on March 25, 1902 in Shanghai, China. He wed his loving wife Eling Waung on July 11, 1926 in China. They remained happily married for 67 years. She precedes him in death, passing on August 11, 1993. David graduated from the University of Shanghai in 1925. He then went on to the University of Chicago earning his Master's Degree in Divinity and graduating in 1932. He taught for many years at various universities in China as a Professor of Economics. Survivors include his son, Dr. Rodney Sung and his wife Constance Chung of Alpharetta, Georgia; his daughter, Rosaline Sung Yuan and her husband, Dr. Lun-Lee Yuan of Wayne, New Jersey; grandchildren, Davy Sung, Jenny Lin Sung Furletti, Milton Yuan and Nancy Yuan; and great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Brandon, Kelsey and Katherine. Besides his wife Eling, he is predeceased by his sister, Rose Sung Tong and his grandson, Robert Sung. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery with Rev. Peggy Ann Sauerhoff presiding; interment will follow.
