Obituary of Louis C. Muhlbauer

Louis C. Muhlbauer Louis C. Muhlbauer of the Town of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Sunday, December 11, 2005 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 84. Son of the late Charles and Josephine Chmelar Muhlbauer, he was born on December 3, 1921 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He married the love of his life, Gloria Izzi on December 29, 1946 at St. Theresa's Church in Astoria, Queens; they remained happily married for almost 60 years. Mr. Mulhbauer served our country in the United States Army during World War II as Captain of Communications. He received many commendations during his service including 5 Battle Stars. He then went on to work in retail for many years, owning and operating three stores, the main store being Harris Department Store in Suffern. Louis also was a member of the Third Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls for over 40 years; he was very passionate about his religion and devoted to the Blessed Mother. Besides his loving wife Gloria at home, he is survived by his son, Paul M. Muhlbauer and his wife, Joan of Hopewell Junction; daughters, Claire T. Muhlbauer of Manhattan, Marianne T. Mulhbauer of the Town of Poughkeepsie and Christine T. Muhlbauer of Montgomery; sister, Nan Mullin of West Islip; and grandchildren, Krista and Kimberly. Family will receive their friends on Tuesday, December 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, December 14 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls.
