Obituary of Betty T. Hemingway

Betty T. Hemingway Betty T. Hemingway of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Saturday, February 25, 2006 at Hudson Haven Care Center. She was 90. Daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Porter Thomas, she was born on August 23, 1915 in Newburgh. She married the love of her life, Ralph A. Hemingway, on April 12, 1941 at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Newburgh; he precedes her in death, passing on August 12, 1998. Betty graduated from the New Paltz Normal School. She then went on to work as a school teacher for many years for Wappingers Central School District. She belonged to the NYS Teacher's Retirement Association. Betty was also a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Fishkill. Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Taylor and her husband, Peter of Poughkeepsie; her son, Gregory Hemingway and his wife, Mary of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, Brad and Eric Schwark, Jill Albertson and Carrie Hemingway; and five great-grandchildren. Family will receive their friends on Monday, February 27, 2006 from 4-7 pm at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 28 at 1:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church of Wappingers Falls on South Avenue. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Betty's name to a charity of one's choice.
