Robert K. Browne
Robert K. Browne, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 88.
Son of the late Kenneth and Anna Purdy Browne, he was born July 27, 1917 in Poughkeepsie.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged on January 17, 1946.
At one time he was a projectionist at the Juliet Theatre in Poughkeepsie. Prior to his retirement, worked for IBM in Poughkeepsie where he was an expeditor. Most importantly, he was a good husband, dad, "Poppa" and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia M. Williams Chiavaroli Browne at home; his children, Gary Browne of Wappingers Falls, Kent Chiavaroli of Poughkeepsie, Richard Chiavaroli of Maine and Vicki Lynn Braun of Florida; his nine grandchildren, David and Michael Pelton, Julie Poplees, Jason Chiavaroli, Ryan and Aaron Browne and Scott, Steven and Nicole Chiavaroli; and his five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Ashley and Brandon Poplees and Tirzea and Luke Pelton.
A graveside service will be offered on Wednesday, March 5 at 10 am at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Robert's behalf to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 280 N. Bedford Rd., #2-B, Mt. Kisco, NY 10549.
