Obituary of Ann Fairhurst

Ann Fairhurst Ann Fairhurst of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Monday, May 8, 2006 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 86. Daughter of the late Samuel and Teresa Kantor Kosar, she was born on March 6, 1920 in Yonkers. She married the love of her life, George Fairhurst on October 9, 1945 in Greenwich, CT; he precedes her in death, passing on April 23, 1999. Mrs. Fairhurst worked as a group leader for many years for the Guideposts Magazine in Carmel. She enjoyed many things in life such as reading, especially mysteries, shopping and loved game shows such as Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and her favorite, The Price Is Right. Ann also belonged to the Wappingers Falls Seniors. Most of all, she adored the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her son, George S. Fairhurst and his wife, Julie of Wappingers Falls; her daughters, Gail Bennett of Wappingers Falls, Patricia Fairhurst of Wappingers Falls and Christine Scher and her husband, Chuck of Jackson, NJ; her brother, William Kosar of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Alicia, Alison, Valerie, Jeffrey, Kayla, Christine and her husband, Peter, Michael and his wife, Allison, Lisa Beth and her husband, Steve, Mark and his wife, Dale and Gregory and his wife, Lisa Ann; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband George, Ann is predeceased by her daughter, Lynn Helfrich, who passed in 1992, her brothers, Michael, John, Andrew and Peter Kosar and her sister, Helen Carpenter. Family will receive their friends on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday May 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Mother of the Church in Fishkill. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Fishkill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ann's name to the American Heart Association, 301 Manchester Road, Suite 105, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
