Julia A. Kerins
Julia A. Kerins died on May 24, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. Born in Greenwich Village, New York City, on December 26, 1912, she was the daughter of James and Mary O'Neill Boran. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School and Grace Institute, New York City.
After raising her family, Julia returned to the workplace in 1966 as a teller at the newly constructed Wappingers Falls branch of the former Dutchess Bank and Trust Co. and retired in 1977 as the Assistant Branch Manager at the Bank of New York in Wappingers Falls.
On October 7, 1939, Julia married John J. Kerins at St. Joan of Arc Church in Jackson Heights, Queens. He predeceased her on March 1, 1997. She is survived by her five children, John C. Kerins and his wife, Patricia of Poughkeepsie, Eileen A. Kerins of Wappingers Falls, William J. Kerins of Lauderhill, Florida, Richard M. Kerins and his wife, Lorraine of Hopewell Junction and Stephen P. Kerins and his wife, Cheryl of LaGrangeville; her grandchildren, Caroline Kerins of Fishkill, Kathleen Kerins of Poughkeepsie, Daniel Kerins of LaGrangeville and Scott DeFayette of North Carolina; her great-grandson, Devin DeFayette of Highland; her sister, Margaret Bovich of East Meadow, Long Island; her nieces, Julia Hyatt of Summerfield, Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive their friends on Friday, May 26, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, May 27 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Martin DePorres Church, Cedar Valley Road in Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow in the family plot at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
Julia's family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the caring individuals at Wingate at Dutchess in Fishkill for their support and kindness during her stay there. They also wish to thank all the people at St. Francis Hospital (ER, CCU and 6th floor) who assisted her in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Julia's name to Hospice of Dutchess County, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
