Gunther Ohliger
Gunther Ohliger, a resident of the City of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at his home. He was 83.
Son of the late Henry and Ida Schmidt Ohliger, he was born February 19, 1923 in Neun Churchen, Germany.
Mr. Ohliger proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945. It was during the service that he learned to become a machinist; his lifelong trade.
Survivors include his children, Richard Ohliger of Wappingers Falls, Kristine Moller of Wappingers Falls, Erik Ohliger of Lagrange and Bob Ohliger of Hopewell Junction; his sister, Leisel Wasdyke of Florida; his seven grandchildren, Sara, Timothy, Brody, Vicki, Jesse, Jason and Jeffrey; and one great-grandchild.
Family will receive their friends on Saturday, May 27, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A funeral service will be held during visitation at 8:30 pm with Alvin Thomas officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations on Gunther's behalf may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 832 S. Broadway, Tarrytown, NY 10591.
