Obituary of Albert J. Volmar

Albert J. Volmar, Jr. Albert J. Volmar, Jr. of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 80 years old. Son of the late Albert and Lucy Mortimer Volmar, he was born on September 30, 1925 in New York City. Albert served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1944-1946, earning many decorations and commendations. During his tour, he participated in the capture and occupation of the Southern Palau Islands. Albert remained a member of the Association of China Marines until his death. Mr. Volmar worked as an antique restorer for many years, specializing in rebuilding trunks and carriage lights. He was also an avid outdoorsman, spending his time hunting and fishing. Albert was also the former Forman for Rocking Horse Ranch in Highland. Survivors include his wife Margaret Volmar of Dawsonville, GA; his daughter, Lisa Logan and her husband, Dennis C. Logan of Edgewater, MD; his sister, Theresa Lang of New York City; grandchildren, Olivia, Fraisia and Bellamy; his nephews, David and Stephen Lang; and his niece, Jane Lang. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Volmar, his sister, Eileen Lawrence and his niece Alana Lawrence Dupont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, June 20 at 10 a.m. at St. Denis Church, Beekman Road in Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow in St. Denis Cemetery, with military honors.
