Marie A. Roth

Marie A. Roth of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 77.

Daughter of the late John and Anna Bishoff Sigismund, she was born on September 12, 1928 in Queens.

Marie volunteered for many local organizations. She was proud to be a Friend of Bill W. in Poughkeepsie. She was a devoted friend, always offering a helping hand. Most of all, she adored her children and grandchildren; they were truly the center of her life.

Survivors include her sons, Christopher Roth of Boston, MA, Mark Roth and his wife, Susan of Wappingers Falls, Matthew Roth and his wife, Roberta of Huntington, Long Island, Stephen Roth and his wife, Colleen of Peachtree City, GA and Gerard Roth and his wife, Vanessa of Peachtree City, GA; her daughters, Frances Knapp and her husband, Fred of Poughkeepsie, Mary Tompkins and her husband, Thomas of Staatsburg, Jeanne Short and her husband, Dan of Poughkeepsie and Elizabeth Ducey and her husband, Dan of Livingston; her brother, John Sigismund; 19 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at 10 am at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marie's name to Alcoholics Anonymous of Dutchess County, S. Hamilton St., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
