Obituary of Edward G. Britton

Edward G. Britton Town of Wappinger- Edward G. Britton, a resident of the Town of Wappinger and formerly of Long Island, entered into rest Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 79. Son of the late Edward and Grace Kennedy Britton, he was born May 1, 1927 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Edward served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He married the former Julia Diana at St. Catherine of Siena Church in St. Albans, Queens on December 11, 1955. Mrs. Britton survives at home. Mr. Britton was a Police Officer with the NYPD until his retirement in 1979. He was a devoted coach and coordinator with the St. Thomas Aquinas Little League for over twenty-five years. He enjoyed sharing his love for baseball with his three sons as well as the rest of the community. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle who will be truly missed. In addition to his wife of 50 years, Julia Britton; he is survived by his three sons, Edward Britton and his wife, Donna, Anthony Britton and his wife, Elisa and Michael Britton and his wife, Crystal; his sister, Rosemary Barrett; his 12 grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicole, Edward, Kaitlin, Brianna, Anthony, Justin, David, Andrew, Jessie, Ariannaand Aiden and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Jack Britton. Family will receive their friends on Friday, September 29, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-10 pm at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main St., Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 am on Saturday, September 30, at St. Martin de Porres Church, Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
