Anna Sledz
Anna Sledz of the Town of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Saturday, August 20, 2005 at her home. She was 86.
Daughter of the late Zygmunt and Joanna Lebiedz Urbanowicz, she was born on September 22, 1918 in Poland. She wed Dominik Sledz and remained happily married for many years, until his passing on September 8, 1986.
Anna worked for Beacon Looms for many years manufacturing curtains. She was also an avid parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Poughkeepsie, acting as a member their Rosary Society.
Mrs. Sledz is survived by her daughters, Maria Ligarzewski of Wappingers Falls and Judy Leon and her husband, Albert, also of Wappingers Falls; her sister, Sophia Rachycka of Belarus; grandchildren, Ahlena, Thomas, Steve and Joseph; and her niece, Kathy Urbanowicz.
Besides her husband, Dominik, Anna is predeceased by her brothers, Michal, Joseph, Stanislaw and Adolf.
Family will receive their friends on Monday, August 22 from 6-9 p.m. at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, August 23 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 9 Lafayette Place in Poughkeepsie. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
