Obituary of Mary F. Cuccia

Mary F. Cuccia Mary F. Cuccia of Wappingers Falls, formerly of Yonkers, entered into rest Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 89. Daughter of the late Dominick and Philomena Mancuso Morelli, she was born on May 21, 1917 in Yonkers. She married the love of her life, John A. Cuccia on September 20, 1941 in Mount Carmel Church in Yonkers; he precedes her in death, passing on January 12, 1980. Mrs. Cuccia worked as a cosmetologist for many years in area salons in Yonkers. In recent years, she spent most of her time volunteering for many local organizations such as the United Way, Volunteer Caregivers and the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum. She also was awarded Senior Citizen of the Year when she was 83 for her over 40,000 hours of service to Retired and Senior Volunteer Program in Dutchess County. Mrs. Cuccia was also a Secular Franciscan for 21 years. Survivors include her daughters, Marie G. Sakovsky and her husband, Joseph of Hopewell Junction and Maryanne C. Miss and her husband, David of Colorado; grandchildren, Maria B. Pallo and her husband, Thomas of Poughkeepsie, Christin Simone and her husband, Frank of Lagrangeville, Alisa Colucci and her husband, Frank of Poughkeepsie, Joseph Sakovsky and his wife, Kelly of Poughkeepsie, Jacob Miss of Pennsylvania and Rachel Miss of Colorado; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Adrianna Simone, Brendon and Nicolas Colucci and Jeffrey Pallo; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her daughter, Philomena Bachant and her siblings, Frank, Timothy, John, Alfred, Dominick, Palma and Frances. Family will receive their friends on Sunday, February 4, 2007 from 3-7 p.m. at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, February 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
