Obituary of Estelle P. Zak

Estelle P. Zak Estelle P. Zak, a resident of the Town of Wappinger, entered into rest Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 81. Daughter of the late John and Anna Godlewska Nietubicz, she was born July 18, 1925 in Bloomfield, New Jersey. On August 7, 1948 she married Alexander G. Zak in Bloomfield, New Jersey. He preceded her in death on August 27, 1976. Prior to her retirement, Estelle was a secretary for Wappingers Central School District and later IBM, East Fishkill. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls. She was curently the vice-president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Polish American Citizens Club, Group 368, Poughkeepsie and was also a former Girl Scout Leader. She was very civic minded and active in the Town of Wappinger. Estelle enjoyed gardening as well as music. She was extremely proud of her Polish American heritage. She is survived by her son, Thomas Zak and his wife, Cindy of Middletown; her daughter, Susan Litz and her husband, Robert of Wallkill; her granddaughter, Alison; her grandson, Robert, Jr.; her sisters, Jean Rogucki and her husband, Harry of Warminster, Pennsylvania and Sophie Wujek of Chatham, New Jersey; her sister-in-law Mary Nietubicz of Victor, New York and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Stanley and Charles Nietubicz. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Wednesday, January 24 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations on Estelle's behalf may be made to St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590; St. Joseph's Church, 9 Lafayette Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or American Cancer Society, 45 Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
