Obituary of Audrey L. Stepanek

Audrey L. Stepanek Beacon- On February 7, 2007 surrounded by her family, the battle ended and Audrey peacefully passed into the presence of the Almighty. She spent the last two years battling an unforgiving illness called Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Born on March 19, 1936 in Beverly, Massachusetts, Audrey was the daughter of the late Richard and Adelaide Bernier. The family moved to the Hudson Valley when she was three years old. Audrey attended school in the Wappingers Falls district. She choose her career of twenty eight years at Texaco Research Center in Glenham. She retired at age 60, but not really. Her life was always busy, whether it be helping with the family, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, or participating in the various ministries in her church. She had a heart of compassion and spent a great deal of time caring for the sick. Audrey was a member of the Fishkill Church of the Nazarene where she faithfully served. She enjoyed being a member of the JOY (Just Older Youth) Club and The King's Daughters. Audrey will be deeply missed by many including her husband, Frederick at home; her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and David Brammer of Beacon; her grandchildren, Christin and her husband, Mark Dawson of Hyde Park, Jillian Rosado of Beacon, Dana Rosado and her fianc�e Samuel Moore of Hyde Park, and Rebekah and Luc Brammer of Beacon; great-grandchildren, Destiny, Nowah and Malachi; brother and sister-in-law Leonard and Judith Bernier of Poughkeepsie; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends. Audrey was predeceased by her granddaughter, Marisette Lynne in 1976. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Friday, February 9, 2007 at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A service in celebration of Audrey's life will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, February, 10 at the Fishkill Church of the Nazarene, 201 Main Street, Fishkill. A gathering of remembrance for family and friends will follow immediately after the service at the church. Burial will be in the spring in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls. As a final tribute of her giving heart, the family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made in Audrey's memory to Muscular Dystrophy Association/ALS National Headquarters, 3300 East Sunrise Drive, Tucson, AZ, 85718, Attn: Angela Clark.
