Obituary of Eleanor Johnson Mc Manus Relyea

Eleanor Johnson McManus Relyea Eleanor Johnson McManus Relyea entered into rest, Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at Elant at Fishkill, formerly Fishkill Health Center. She was 88. Daughter of the late Vera and Charles Clayton Johnson, she was born on April 10, 1918 in Newburgh. She was raised in Poughkeepsie and was a 1936 graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. On June 8, 1940, she married Robert J. McManus. Mr. McManus preceded her in death in 1973. On March 4, 1982, she married Carleton I. Relyea in Pompano Beach, Florida. Mr. Relyea preceded her in death in 2003. Prior to her retirement, Eleanor was a secretary for the Wappingers Central School District for twenty years. Survivors include her son, John McManus and his wife, Josephine of Hyde Park; two granddaughters, Kathleen and Sherri McManus; five step-children, Patricia McAuley of Lexington, Kentucky, Richard Relyea of Marlboro, New York and Robert, Ronald and Cathy Relyea all of Wappingers Falls and several step-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by a brother, William Johnson. Family will receive their friends on Thursday, March 1, 2007 from 6 to 8 pm at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, March 2 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Peter's Cemetery, Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie.
