Obituary of Doris M. Waltz

Doris M. Waltz Doris M. Waltz of the Town of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at her residence. She was 79. Daughter of the late William and Laura Reeder Bloom, she was born on February 22, 1928 in Manhattan. She married the love of her life, Gustave Waltz on September 11, 1949 in the Bronx; they remained happily married for over 58 years. Doris worked as a clerk and manager for the United States Post Office in North Salem. In her younger days, she also loved the time she spent working for the Bronx Zoo. Mrs. Waltz enjoyed many things in life such as swimming, hiking, canoeing, camping and traveling; she absolutely loved the outdoors. She also enjoyed antiquing and collecting. In addition to her husband, Gus, she is survived by her sons, John G. Waltz and his wife, Shelly of Belle Mead, New Jersey and Kenneth W. Waltz of Brewster; her daughter, Laraine Lamoree and her husband, Robert of Wappingers Falls; her sister, Betty Maguire of Redding, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Kathleen, Robert, Kellie, Courtney, Gregory, Jordan, Jajce and Bretton; great-grandson, Jacob; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen Long who passed in June of 1977, and her sister, Mary Fischer. Family will receive their friends on Friday, March 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 3 from 11 to 1 p.m. at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
