Obituary of Fr. Jude J. Mili

+Fr. Jude J. Mili, O.F.M.+ Fr. Jude J. Mili, O.F.M. of Good Counsel Friary, Morgantown, West Virginia, died Friday March 9, 2007 at Mon-General Hospital. Born Joseph Mili on December 27, 1931 in Somerville, Massachusetts he was the son of the late Gelsomina (Scipione) and Spridione Mili. Fr. Jude entered the Franciscan Order, Province of the Immaculate Conception, on July 14, 1959. He made his First Profession of Vows on July 15, 1951 and Professed his Solemn Vows on July 15, 1954. Upon completion of his theological studies at Mount Alvernia Seminary in Wappingers Falls, he was Ordained to the Priesthood on June 20, 1959. Following his ordination, Fr. Jude continued his Doctoral studies in Moral Theology at the Antonianum, Rome, Italy. In 1964 he returned to Mount Alvernia Seminary where he taught Theology until 1968 when he was assigned to Good Counsel Friary in Morgantown, WV. Fr. Jude remained in ministry at Good Counsel Friary until his failing health necessitated his placement at Morgan Manor Nursing Home. During his thirty-nine years of ministry at Good Counsel Friary, Fr. Jude continued his education and received a M.A. in Counseling from West Virginia University in 1972. He taught Moral Theology at St. Leonard College, Dayton, Ohio and at St. Bonaventure University in Olean during the summers of 1971,1972 and 1973. Fr. Jude is survived by his sisters, Rose Gartland of Cambridge, MA and Veronica Colman of Somerville, MA, brothers-in-law Joe Coleman, Ulisse Rossi and Don Benton of Somerville, MA and a sister-in-law Audrey Mili of Baltimore, MD. Fr. Jude was predeceased by his brothers Anthony of Baltimore, MD and Vincent of Cambridge, MA, and three sisters Rita Mili, Dorothy Rossi and Catherine Benton all of Somerville, MA. Other survivors are nieces, nephews and their children. Fr. Jude was respected and loved by those who knew him. Funeral services will be conducted at both Morgantown, WV and Wappingers Falls. Calling hours in Wappingers Falls will take place at Mount Alvernia Friary Chapel, Delavergne Ave. on Thursday March 15, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. There will be a Wake Service conducted at 7:30 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Chapel on Friday March 16 at 11 A.M. Interment will follow at Mount Alvernia Cemetery.
