Obituary of Vincent J. Garrigan

Vincent J. Garrigan Vincent J. Garrigan, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Friday, March 9, 2007 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 81. Son of the late Vincent and Jessie VanScoy Garrigan, he was born on October 10, 1925 in Wappingers Falls, NY. Vincent proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 with the Army Engineers. On February 14, 1954, he married the former Regina A. Murray at Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park. Mrs. Garrigan survives at home. Prior to his retirement in 1986, Vincent worked as a mechanic for the Wappingers Central School District for 28 years. He was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church in Hyde Park. Vincent also enjoyed bowling and he loved to travel to Vermont. In addition to his wife of fifty-three years, Regina Garrigan, he is survived by one son, Shawn Garrigan and his wife, Katy of Pleasant Valley, two daughters, Cherie Lyon of Tuscon, AZ and Kim Blaisdel and her husband, Mark of E. Aurora, NY; six grandchildren, Christopher Lyon and his wife, Hosanna of Abondale, AZ, Brandon Lyon and his wife, Kelsey of Lake Placid, NY, Courtney Lyon of Hyde Park, Alicia Franclemont of Lancaster, NY and Victoria and Bryan Garrigan of Pleasant Valley, NY. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, Alynne and Aidan Franclemont. Visitation will be from 7-9 pm on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Wednesday, March 14th at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Hudson View Drive, Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Vincent's memory may be made to Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
