Obituary of Gaspar Mangieri

Gaspar Mangieri Gaspar Mangieri, a resident of the Town of Wappinger, entered into rest Saturday, March 17, 2007 at his home. He was 81. Son of the late Antonio and Marianna Mistretta Mangieri, he was born September 14, 1925 in Brooklyn. Gaspar proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in September 1946 after serving in the Southern Philippines. On July 9, 1949 he married the former Veronica O'Brien in Brooklyn. Mrs. Mangieri survives at home in Wappingers Falls. He was an Appropriations Clerk for American Can Company in Byram, Connecticut prior to his retirement. Gaspar was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Right to Life of Dutchess County. In addition to his wife of fifty-seven years, Veronica Mangieri, he is survived by his six children, Robert Mangieri of Staten Island, Marianne Lauto of Brooklyn, Gerard Mangieri of Staten Island, Christopher Mangieri of Poughquag, Monica Sneyd of Wappingers Falls and Veronica Mangieri of Wappingers Falls; his brother, John Mangieri; his sister, Patricia Ferrara; his ten grandchildren, Michelle, Gerard, Jason, Lisa, Jeff, Stephanie, Victor, Nicholas, Christopher, and Michael; his great-grandson, Kai Victor and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive their friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, March 21 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will be in the spring in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls. . In lieu of flowers, donations on Gaspar's behalf may be made to the Right to Life of Dutchess County, PO Box 2191, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
