Obituary of Thomas A. Norris

Thomas A. Norris, III Thomas A. (Tom) Norris, III of Sun City, Arizona and formerly of Wappingers Falls, died March 20, 2007 at the age of 54. Born on August 10, 1952 in Beacon, he was the son of the late Thomas A. Norris, Jr. and the late Ellen Lauber Norris of Wappingers Falls. Tom previously worked in Phoenix for the Aerospace Division of NTS. He also served his country and was honorably discharged from the U.S.M.C. and the U.S. Navy. Tom had a love of airplanes and flying, obtained his pilots license, and enjoyed working on his restored Nova. He was very active in his former Phoenix community and worked with the Valley Interfaith Council on a revitalization project. He was instrumental in the organization and implementation of the community Neighborhood Watch Program. As a former President of his Condominium community, Tom was active in influencing many positive changes. Tom was devoted to Bubba, his cockatoo, who for years was his constant companion. Survivors include his daughter, Diana Lynn Norris of Sewell, N.J; his brother, Michael Norris of Phoenix, AZ; four sisters, Ellen Spagnoli of Pleasant Valley, NY, Susan Lattanzio of West Hartford, CT, Elizabeth O'Connor of Gouldsboro, PA and Mary Norris of Roselle, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Frederick. A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, March 31 from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1:00 pm in St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Inurnment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Fishkill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oasis Sanctuary, P.O. Box 30502, Phoenix, AZ, 85046-0502.
