Obituary of John A. Appleton

John A. Appleton, Jr. John A. Appleton, Jr. a seven year resident of the Town of Wappinger and formerly of San Antonio, Texas, entered into rest Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at his home in the Town of Wappinger. He was 70. Son of the late John A. and Ruth S. Ewens Appleton, he was born June 24, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York. John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force where he was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He later worked at Kelly Air Force Base in Texas before relocating to Wappingers Falls. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles. John enjoyed the time he spent in Texas and became a true Texan at heart. He is survived by his son, John J. Appleton of Colorado; his step-sons, Patrick Bullard of Connecticut and Michael Bullard of South Carolina; his siblings, Helen Dowd and her husband, Tom of Nebraska, James Appleton and his wife, Pam of North Carolina and Anne P. Williams and her husband, Edward of Wappingers Falls; several grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including, Heather, Glenn P., Dana and Krystle and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews including, Glenn E. Williams and Nolan Stuffel. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Betty Appleton in 1999 and his brother, Frank Appleton. Family will receive their friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
