Obituary of Christine Talluto

Christine Talluto Christine Talluto, a resident of the Town of Wappinger, entered into rest Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at her home. She was 98. Daughter of the late Cesar and Letteria Bencastro Corsaro, she was born July 17, 1908 in Messina, Sicily, Italy. Together with her family, she came to the United States at the age of five in 1913 where they settled in to the Lower East Side. She attended and graduated from Central Needle and Trade High School. After a whirlwind courtship, she married Mariano Talluto on July 19, 1936. Mr. Talluto preceded her in death on January 27, 1999. They lived in Queens until 1965 when they moved to Rocky Point, Long Island. While in Rocky Point, she enjoyed taking part in the Home Extension where she taught crafts. In 1996, they moved to Wappingers Falls. Christine was an excellent cook and truly enjoyed crafting. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother and a "great" grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Jo Johnson and her husband, Nick of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, Nancy Flannery, Nicholas Johnson, Jr. and Christine Nastasi; her great-grandchildren, Nicholas Johnson, III, Daniel Nastasi, Courtney Johnson, Eric Johnson, Ciara Flannery, Marisa Flannery and Alison Johnson and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive their friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 am on Thursday, May 3 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Entombment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village, New York. Memorial donations may be made in Christine's name to Hospice, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
