Obituary of Anthony J. Famighetti

Anthony J. Famighetti Anthony J. Famighetti, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, formerly of Staten Island, entered into rest Monday July 2, 2007 at Eden Park Nursing Home, Poughkeepsie. He was 84. Son of the late Gaetano and Carmela Franchille Famighetti he was born August 19, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York.. He married the Former Filomena "Phylis" Venditti on November 30, 1946 in Assumption Church, Staten Island. They celebrated sixty years of marriage in 2006. Mrs. Famighetti survives at home. Prior to his retirement, Anthony was a sales manager for Prudential Insurance Company in Staten Island for 33 years during which he received many awards .He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Anthony was a member of the Society of San Bernadino in Staten Island and St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. He was an avid paddle ball player and he enjoyed playing golf, fine wines, traveling with his wife and looked forward to his monthly visit to Atlantic City. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Thomas Famighetti and his wife Joyce DiBonaventura of Cold Spring, NY, his grandchildren Rafael and Julia Famighetti, his brother Thomas Famighetti of Smithtown, L.I. and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Robert Famighetti in 1986 and three brothers and one sister. Family will receive their friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday July 5 and Friday July 6, 2007 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 00 am Saturday July 7 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton St., Wappingers Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Anthony's name to Alzheimer's Association, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
