Obituary of Robert W. Montross

Robert W. Montross Robert W. Montross of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Sunday, July 8, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. He was 76. Son of the late Walter R. and Nola Tanner Montross, he was born on July 7, 1931 in Poughkeepsie. He was married to the former Lois Mitchell on September 4, 1954 at the United Methodist Church of Wappingers Falls; she precedes him in death passing on August 8, 1986. Mr. Montross worked as a bank teller and manager for the former Wappingers Savings Bank. He was a member of the Men's Club of the United Methodist Church of Wappingers Falls, where he was a communicant. Bob loved to golf. He also loved spending time with his granddaughter, family and friends; he especially loved his granddog, Lucy. Survivors include his good friend and companion, Grace McLaughlin of Wappingers Falls; daughters, Barb Montross of Wappingers Falls and Betsy Montross-Burger and her husband, Mark of Chicago, Ill.; granddaughter, Madison Burger; cousins, Marilyn Middleton and her husband, Norm of Hyde Park, Joyce Trippodo and her husband, Larry of Rochester and Jeanne Lallier of Ridge, and their families; nephews, Jim Simmons and his wife, Toni of North Carolina and Larry Simmons and his wife, Anne of Dobbs Ferry, and their families; and his granddogs, Lucy and Ally. Family will receive their friends on Wednesday, July 11 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 12 at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Wappingers Falls, with Rev. Sandra Mantz presiding. Interment will follow in the family plot in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
