Obituary of Steven R. Laub

Steven R. Laub Steven R. Laub, a lifelong resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 63. Son of Ethel Loweth Laub and the late Robert Laub, he was born on September 3, 1943 in Poughkeepsie. He married the former Karen M. Sambucci on July 25, 1964 in Mahopac; they had just celebrated their 43rd anniversary. Mr. Laub was the owner and operator of Expressly Yours Trucking and Services, and Peregrine Services, both of Wappingers Falls. He was also very involved in the Antique Automobile Club of America, Mid-Hudson Chapter. Their organization held many fundraisers through auto shows that benefited local communities. Steve was a kind and loving man; he will be remembered for always being there to help family and friends. In addition to his mother, Ethel of the Town of Poughkeepsie and his wife, Karen at home in Wappingers Falls, he is survived by his son, Robert A. Laub of San Francisco; his daughter, Kristen J. Laub Bownas and her husband, Joel of Montgomery; brothers-in-law, Donald Sambucci and his wife, Tracy of San Francisco, Steven Sambucci and his wife, Joan of FL., and Peter Sambucci and his wife, Christina of VA.; cousins, Donald Wheeler and his wife, Louise of CT., and Jerry Vossler of Copake; nieces, Daria and Lauren Sambucci of CT.; and nephew, Max Sambucci of FL. Family will receive their friends on Wednesday, August 8 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 9 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home; Rev. Horace Choate will officiate. Interment will follow in the family plot in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
