Obituary of Sophie Prezkuta

Sophie Prezkuta Sophie Prezkuta, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 1978 and formerly of the Bronx, entered into rest Sunday, August 12, 2007 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 93. Daughter of the late Joseph and Vera Malinowska Kondratowicz, she was born on June 29, 1914 in Manhattan. She married Charles Prezkuta on April 18, 1931; he precedes her in death, passing on March 5, 1978. Mrs. Prezkuta enjoyed knitting and watching ice skating and dancing. She belonged to various Senior Clubs in Wappingers Falls where she enjoyed spending time with friends and doing arts and crafts. Sophie was also a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. The Prezkuta Family would like to thank the medical staff at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, South Circle 7 and River Valley Care Center, Fifth Floor for all of their care and compassion. Survivors include her sons, Alan Prezkuta and his wife Lorene of Poughkeepsie, and Robert Prezkuta and his wife, Katherine of Deland, FL; grandchildren, Lorraine, Kristine, Katherine, Robert, Richard and Eugene; 15 great-grandchildren; and several niece and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Michael Kondratowicz, and her sisters, Josephine Neary and Helen Krasij. Family will receive their friends on Wednesday, August 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, August 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
