Obituary of Gary J. Genesky

Gary J. Genesky, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Friday, August 29, 2014 at his home. He was 71. Son of the late George and Josephine Plakinger Genesky, he was born March 8, 1943 in Yonkers. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne. He was honorably discharged August 21, 1964. Prior to his retirement, Gary worked in transportation for the Veterans Administration at Montrose. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing. He was a New York Yankee and New York Giants fan. Gary was a member of the Elks Club in Beacon. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was known for his witty sense of humor. He is survived by his children, Gina Parker and her husband, Jay of Poughkeepsie and Joseph Genesky and his wife, Cristina of Wappingers Falls; his companion, Kaye Gesualdo of Wappingers Falls; the mother of his children, Susan Genesky of Beacon; his sister, Arlene DeFranza and her husband, Mike of Melbourne, Florida; his grandchildren, Gia Genesky, Alyssa Genesky, Larry Istvan, Jr. and his fiancée, Sara Traver, Rachel Parker and Justin Parker; his great-grandson, Dean; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Conrad Genesky. Family will receive friends on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 6 at Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
