Obituary of Walter A. Janulewicz

Walter A. Janulewicz Walter A. Janulewicz of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Thursday, October 25, 2007 at home surrounded by his family. He was 62. Son of the late Benjamin A. and Valerie Monkowski Janulewicz, he was born on May 28, 1945 in New York City. He married the love of his life, Christine Lucido on August 4, 1973 at Sacred Heart Church in Hartsdale; they were happily married for over 34 years. Walter grew up in the Manhattan area. As a young man, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He then went on to work as a fork lift operator for Miron Lumber in Fishkill. Walter loved fishing and playing games; shooting pool and horseshoes were two of his favorites. In addition to his wife, Christine at home in Wappingers Falls, survivors include his son, Anthony Michael Janulewicz and his wife, Barbara Ann of Milton; sisters, Mary Rivera and her husband, Angelo of Hobart, and Blanche Takesky of Downey, CA; mother and father-in-law, Grace and Joseph Lucido of Poughkeepsie; brother-in-law, Joseph Lucido and his wife, Carrie of Rome; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Richard Adams of Fort Lee, NJ; Richard and Walter grew up together, were in the service together and remained friends all these years. Family will receive their friends on Friday, October 26 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 27 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9 in Fishkill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Walter's name to a charity of one's choice.
