Obituary of Leroy W. Vrooman

LeRoy "Roy" William Vrooman LeRoy "Roy" William Vrooman, 60, of Peoria, Arizona and a native of Poughkeepsie, died November 1, 2007 at Boswell Memorial Hospital, Sun City, Arizona after many years of struggling with heart and lung disease. He was born June 22, 1947 in Poughkeepsie and was the son of the late William F. Vrooman and Lorraine M. Vrooman-Rhodes. Roy graduated from F.D.R. High School in 1965 and worked for the Hudson River State Hospital until his retirement. He proudly served in the Armed Forces, was past governor of the Loyal Order of the Moose #904, and was a member of the American Legion and a volunteer at the Chamber of Commerce in Arizona. He will be greatly missed b family and friends. In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by his children, Scott Vrooman and Brian Kennedy both of Poughkeepsie, Michael Kennedy and his wife, Miranda of Pleasant Valley, and Thomas Kennedy and his wife, Carmen of Idaho; his brother Wayne and his wife, Barbara of Wappingers Falls; two sisters, Gary Ward of Middletown and Gail Puglielli and her husband, Joseph of Wappingers Falls; an aunt June Carr of Beacon; five grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved dog, Sadie. A memorial service to celebrate Roy's life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Faith Assembly of God Church, 254 Spackenkill Road, Poughkeepsie. Donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 1332 North Halstead Street, Suite 201, Chicago, IL 60622.
