Valerio Anthony "Tony" Menconeri
Valerio Anthony "Tony" Menconeri, a resident of the Town of Wappinger, entered into rest Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 73.
He was born July 21, 1934 in Poughkeepsie and was the son of the late Raymond and Rose Falanga Menconeri, who owned and operated Raymond's Grocery Store in the Village of Wappingers Falls.
He graduated from St. Mary's School, Wappingers Falls and Wappingers High School and attended both Lake Champlain College and Adelphi College.
On October 24, 1964 at St. Mary's Church, Poughkeepsie he married the former Carol Ann Bonahue. Mrs. Menconeri survives at home in Wappingers Falls.
Tony started his career at Western Printing in Poughkeepsie. He went on to work for IBM, retiring July 31, 1991 after twenty-eight years. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls, was an original member of the Mid Hudson Catholic Club at Mount Alvernia, was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club and he was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Wappingers Falls. Tony also enjoyed gardening. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; they were the joy of his life.
In addition to his wife, Carol Ann at home in Wappingers Falls, he is survived by his daughters, Theresa Menconeri-Hammond and her husband, Robert of Poughkeepsie and Maria Menconeri-Annetts and her husband, Paul of Clintondale; his two grandchildren, Ciara Jaeden and Hunter Logan and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family will receive their friends on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Wednesday, November 21 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls.
Entombment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery Mausoleum, Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie.
Memorial donations may be made in Tony's name to St. Mary's School, Convent Avenue, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
