Obituary of Jean Rulli Russell

Jean Russell Jean Rulli Russell, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, died January 5, 2008 at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY. A 40-year resident of Wappingers Falls, she was born Jean Rulli in Newburgh, NY on October 27, 1925, the youngest child of Philomena and Cesidio Rulli. She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and attended Spencerian Business School, after which she held a variety of secretarial and administrative positions. In 1957, she married Calvin D. Russell, who predeceased her by 4 years to the day. They spent the first 5 years of their married life in northern California, where Cal worked for IBM, then were transferred back to Dutchess County to raise their family. Jean is survived by: two daughters, Judith Russell of Scarsdale, NY and Nancy Burger of Redding, CT; two sons-in-law, Tom Ostertag and David Burger; three granddaughters, Emily Ostertag, Elizabeth Ostertag, and Shawn Burger; two grandsons, James Burger and John Ostertag; a brother, Joseph Rulli of Poughkeepsie, and a sister Santina McCann of Albany. Visitation will be held at the Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls on Wednesday January 9 from 2 to 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls on Thursday, January 10 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.
