Rita Ruder

Rita Ruder, 85, a resident of the Town of Wappinger passed away at Saint Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie on Monday, January 21, 2008.

Rita was born in Long Island, New York on February 14, 1922 to the late Manuel and Angela Cardos.

Mrs. Ruder worked as a riveter during World War II while her brothers served their country during the war. She then worked as a beautician before settling down as a housewife and mom. Spirited, loving and generous are words that best describe her. Known for her culinary skills, Rita especially enjoyed bringing family and friends together for great food and laughter. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Rita is survived by her husband, Winfield Ruder of Wappingers Falls; daughter Susan and her husband Gregory Glavich; daughter Janet and her husband Dale Coughlin; sisters Marie Lustgarten and Ann Wolynies; and many nephews, and nieces.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2008 at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A memorial service will follow at 8PM.
